NOTE FROM KI
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS. My 7-year-old grandson is sporting that irresistible holiday grin — the kind only a kid missing his two front teeth can pull off. You’d think those teeth would be at the very top of his Christmas list, but not even close. His current non-negotiables? A sword. A dirt bike. A drone.
Meanwhile, my own list skews a little more… intangible: world peace, food and clean water for every human and healthy kids in every corner of the globe. But maybe he’s the wise one — instinctively knowing that Santa’s workshop doesn’t exactly specialize in big-picture wishes. Those aren’t gifts you can wrap or click “add to cart.”
This year, he reminded me that wishing is wonderful when you’re seven — but for the rest of us, the real magic comes from doing. Organizing. Donating. Showing up. Helping out. Turning hope into action, one small, meaningful gesture at a time.
Here’s to doing a little more, giving a little more and keeping the spirit of the season alive — in our homes, our communities and throughout the world.
Cheers to Christmas magic and all things vintage.

ALL THERE IN BLACK AND WHITE. A sense of theatre, a talent for recognizing the beauty in juxtaposition and an enormous appreciation for history make this vendor’s home a visual delight. Read More.

GIVE IF YOU CAN. As the season of giving approaches, it’s a good time to pause and make sure our donations truly make an impact. Start by picking a cause close to your heart, then run it through a research site. Charity Navigator and CharityWatch make it easy to vet nonprofits, compare ratings and choose organizations that use their resources wisely. My top three this season: Frosted Faces Foundation – Hope and homes for senior pets. Hilarity for Charity – Helping families facing Alzheimer’s. Union Rescue Mission – Supporting neighbors in need.
