NOTE FROM KI
IT'S TIME. As I approach my 73rd birthday, I’ve decided to retire. Even typing those words feels surreal. For as long as I can remember, my days have been filled with projects on the board and ideas in motion. I’m not entirely sure what retirement will look like for me — but I’m ready to find out.
I know I will deeply miss the camaraderie and connection I’ve shared with you — my readers, customers and work associates. You have been such an important part of my daily life. But I’m also looking forward to this next adventure with an open heart.
Over the next few months, my website will gently wind down, and as of today, monthly membership fees will cease. Thank you for being part of this community and for supporting my work all these years.
You may still see me pop up on Instagram from time to time — depending, of course, on how busy my grand kiddos keep me! I have trips planned to Africa and Patagonia, and I’m hoping to stay healthy and strong enough to keep lifting my suitcase into the overhead bin and keep pace with my travels and a younger generation’s boundless energy.
I am profoundly grateful for the years you’ve cheered me on and supported my business. Because of you, I’ve had the joy of celebrating and sharing a vintage-inspired life. You truly mean the world to me.
Cheers to a new chapter and to all things vintage.
I’ll see you at the flea market.

EASTER PARADE. Bring your dining room to beautiful blooming life with fresh cuts and flower motifs to celebrate Easter and welcome spring. Read On.

COLOR ME HAPPY. As were many of you who follow Pantone’s Color of the Year, I was a bit baffled when the 2026 reveal turned out to be Cloud Dancer—aka white. Is white actually a color? I love it as a place for the eye to rest, a blank canvas for art, a ceramic plate that makes food look better and a stack of fluffy towels. But to feel energized and inspired, I need to be surrounded by color.
I’ve always loved color swatches. Tile, carpet, fabric, paint chips — show me every shade. My color preferences have evolved: from Kelly green and hot pink to turquoise and endless blues, with a brief early-2000s detour into browns and earth tones. Lately I’m drawn to quirky lavenders and violets, while chartreuse remains a longtime favorite.
I’ve taught my grandchildren that pink, blue and green aren’t colors — they’re simply categories. Pink could be fuchsia, ballet slipper, cotton candy, bubble gum, strawberry or rose. Honestly, naming paint colors might have been my true calling.
Every so often I consider toning down my rainbow-happy décor. But who am I kidding? When choosing textiles or art, I always land on the boldest option.
Color makes me happy. And at the end of the day, a happy home makes life a little bit better.

COLOR FOLLOWS. In the 15+ years since I moved to Los Angeles, I’ve lived in six very different homes. Small, big, old, new — it doesn’t matter. Once my colorful, vintage décor, art and kitchen treasures arrive, the place immediately starts looking like… me. Check out my tiniest and my roomiest.

COLOR CRUSH. This 100% organic cotton Tea Towel captures the historial charm of Werner's Nomenclature of Colours, used by pioneers such as Charles Darwin to categorize colors through nature's inspiration. Before Pantone there was Werner's!
